Abstract

Dear Sir,
Blood Services are uniquely positioned to take part in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic by providing ongoing snap-shots of the current SARS-CoV-2 immunity status of the ethnic populations they serve. This data can be used to model and monitor pandemic-immunization responses and endemic health care risks. Costs are an issue, and hospital blood typing laboratories are usually not equipped for large-scale infectious disease screening.
