Abstract

This Commentary article discusses the safety and effectiveness of intraoperative cell salvage in cancer surgery. Modern techniques, such as leukocyte reduction filters and monoclonal antibodies like Catumaxomab, have been developed to minimize this risk by removing tumor cells from salvaged blood. Ongoing studies aims to assess the safety of re-infusing filtered blood, potentially improving patient outcomes during cancer surgeries.
